Newsletter - 9th February 2018

We are at the end of another term and it has been a busy one. Science week was amazing; the children thoroughly enjoyed and were engrossed in the activities across the week. Thank you to all of you who came to the parent workshop it means a lot to the children. A huge thanks also to FOPS who funded half of the week providing valuable enrichment for all the children.

Last Friday I had the privilege of accompanying Class 1 to the O2 arena to be part of the Young Voices concert. Our amazing children were part of a 7000 large choir of children all singing a chosen set of songs to entertain the crowds. Our children were a credit to the school and we all had a brilliant time. I am sure that the experience will be one that stays with them for a long time. We are very proud of you all!!

School Council

School council have been busy this school year. The children have been given a small budget to purchase some more playtime activities and have been seeking the views of all the children. They have also been given the task of organising our fundraising activities for Sport Relief. Once again, the commitment and enthusiasm these children show is outstanding.

Parent Consultations

Our parent consultation evening will be on Wednesday 28th February from 3:30 until 7pm. The sign-up sheets will be available from Tuesday 20th February. If you need any assistance with this process then please see Mrs Taylor in the office. If you have a separate meeting with Mr Clay there is no need to sign up again to see your child’s teacher.

World Book Day Thursday 1st March 2018

This year Preston Primary is to be transformed into Hogwarts for the day. We are having a Harry Potter themed book day. The children are invited to dress up as anything to do with Harry Potter. During the day, there will be a Harry Potter house quiz in assembly, followed by ‘wizardry’ maths and perfect ‘Potter’ poetry. In the afternoon, the children will take unusual classes by our teachers who will become professors. Each class will have to transform their classroom doors into a Hogwarts style entrance. At the end of the day, the children will share stories with each other whilst enjoying cookies and milk. The day will be a magical one to remember!

Home Learning

Once again a huge thank you for your support with the home learning tasks. The children are so proud of their work and it is delightful to see this when they are given an opportunity to share this across the week. I will endeavour to update our website to reflect these wonderful pieces of work.
