Newsletter 22nd June 2018
We are now two weeks into our final term of the year. It does not seem possible that we will be finishing this school year in a matter of weeks.
School Summer Fete
A huge thank you to all who came to the summer fete on Sunday. The event was again a very successful one. As always I am very grateful to FOPS without whom the fete would not happen and be so triumphant. The hardworking and dedicated team behind the scenes planning months in advance ensure that our ‘famous Preston Fete’ remains the greatest! Thank you also to all the families that helped run a stall from games to bric a brac, tombola to sweets, all the people who got here early in the morning and stayed until 6pm in the evening. We are very lucky to have such supportive families.
On Friday 29th June, our annual Preston Prom will be held in the school playground. Each class will perform a song, this year we have chosen pop classics or idols. I have heard a Spice Girls classic being rehearsed. The children in class 4 have been practicing their song from the Greatest Showman. I am sure there will be lots of teary eyed parents during that one. The afternoon would not be complete without our talented musicians who bravely share what they have been learning both in and out of school. The concert starts at 2pm; parking for this event will be on the school rec. Please do not arrive before 1:30pm, as there will be no access before this time for parking.
We are always looking at ways to inspire our pupils and open their eyes to the wealth of opportunities open to them as they move towards adulthood. As part of this, we are again running an afternoon on 28th June called Preston University. Every adult in the school will run a specialised course of their choice this could range from philosophy to first aid. Children attending will graduate from this course at the end of the afternoon. The children have already selected 3 courses and will find out next week which one they will be taking.
This term is busy with dates so I will again include them so that you have a chance to be prepared!
