Safeguarding At Preston Primary School

At Preston and Wingham Primary Schools Federation, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a secure, caring and inclusive environment where all children feel safe, valued and able to achieve their full potential.

We believe that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. All staff, governors, volunteers and visitors share a commitment to protecting children from harm and promoting their welfare. We maintain a strong safeguarding culture where concerns are identified, reported and acted upon promptly.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for all pupils.
  • Promoting children's physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
  • Ensuring all staff receive regular safeguarding and child protection training.
  • Following safer recruitment procedures for all staff and volunteers.
  • Working closely with parents, carers and external agencies to support children and families.
  • Listening to pupils and ensuring they know who to talk to if they have concerns.
  • Teaching children how to stay safe both in school and beyond.

If we have concerns about a child's safety or welfare, we have a duty to share information with appropriate agencies to ensure that children receive the support and protection they need.

Online Safety

Technology plays an important role in children's learning and development. At Preston and Wingham Primary Schools Federation, we are committed to helping pupils learn how to use technology safely, responsibly and positively.

We teach online safety throughout the curriculum and provide regular opportunities for children to learn about:

  • Staying safe online.
  • Protecting personal information.
  • Responsible use of social media and online platforms.
  • Cyberbullying and how to report concerns.
  • Recognising inappropriate or harmful content.
  • Healthy screen time habits.
  • Understanding online relationships and digital footprints.
  • Reporting anything online that makes them feel worried, upset or unsafe.

We work in partnership with parents and carers to promote safe technology use both at school and at home.
